JVP Family Celebration LogoThe JVP Family Celebration is a national reunion, the first of which is scheduled for June 13th-14th, 2014. This event is open to all people who are, or are associated with, the descendants, family or friends of one common ancestor: Johannes Valentin Pressler. For a brief history of this family line, click here. For more information on how the JVP Family Celebration was brought about, then click here.

There are quite a few spelling variations to this family line because of the conversion of the surname from Old World Germany to more modern English in America. Examples of the name variations include, but are not limited to the following: Preβler (original German spelling), Pressler, Presslar, Pressley, Presler, Preslar, Presley, Bressler, Bresslar, Bressley, Bresler, Breslar, Bresley, etc. With diligent genealogical research, many of the differently spelled surnames can be traced to this common ancestor, thus, are all kin.

While it may be human nature for many family groups to isolate themselves because of these differences, we, the JVP Family Celebration Committee, encourage everyone to embrace this diversity. Whether you are familiar with this ancestral line, or you would like to learn more, we invite you all to come and celebrate with us the faith, courage and determination that this man, Johannes Valentin Pressler, brought with him to America over 300 years ago.

The JVP Family Celebration Committee is currently comprised of the following:

Chair John Preslar (Morganton, NC)
Vice-Chair Otis Preslar (Hot Springs, AR)
Secretary Mindy Preslar Guethle (Waterloo, IL)
Treasurer Renee Preslar (Conway, AR)
Max Preslar (Rock Island, IL)
Sonny Preslar (Rogers, MO)
Sarah Presley (Branson, MO)
